Designed with transitional seasons in mind, the Tamarack Jacket is a warm and stylish quilted coat perfect for spring and fall layering. Quilt your own fabric to make this jacket original to you!
Techniques involved include straight seams, basic quilting, and applying bias binding.
Suggested fabrics:
Light to mid-weight cottons, linens, chambrays, and blends work well for this jacket.
Use orphan blocks, or quilt top for a one-of-a-kind look.
*Quilting your fabric before cutting out your pattern pieces is essential. We would love to help you! Please ask us for more details on ways to get your fabric quilted before the class.
Batting:
Any batting will work, however too high of a loft may be hard to sew through when constructing your jacket, so keep that in mind.
Notions:
https://grainlinestudio.com/products/tamarack-hood-collar-variation-0-30
For the classroom sew-along version, we will be walking through the hood and/or collar attachment. We will be omitting the welt pocket in the pattern, and instead we will sew on a fun patch pocket. Please see our sample version of the jacket for more details.
